Position Description


SEM Engineering team is a part of Growth at Walmartlabs and is in charge of optimizing paid and free search for walmart.com. We are tasked with optimizing ad spend on RoAS while making sure as many items from our catalogue as practical get conversion, while doing it at scale, meaning, the traffic quality should be maintained regardless of amount of ad spend. We use data science methods to dynamically modify keyword and product ad bids across top search engine providers. The team is responsible for building data pipelines and API integrations enabling us to do so, with concerns of SLA and data quality squarely in focus, as well as building internal tool to provide our business partners control and visibility of SEM operations. Our challenge is immense. Presently, the catalog is expanding by 10s of thousands of items daily and keyword universe is growing by 10s of thousands monthly.

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math with 5 years of industry experience.
Successful candidates typically demonstrate strengths in many of the following areas:
Hands-on with JUnit, PyTest or any other similar unit testing kit.
Ability to work in Jenkins or similar CI automation.
Mastery of Selenium or similar web automation tool.
Proven experience implementing data-driven tests.
Intellectual curiosity and attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Confidence and drive to uphold quality gates
Clear and unambiguous when making commitments and always follows up on promises
Understands product development and software lifecycle in leading technology companies
Great partner to Product Management, both participating in and driving agile development process

Additional Preferred Qualifications


We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer in Test, who wishes to jumpstart their career by helping SEM team drive continuous optimization of PPC ad spend on search engines by improving usability and stability of our web-based tools, both customer-facing and internal, ensuring data quality of our pipelines, and, most importantly, upholding highest possible standard of SEO and SEM compliance across the pages of Walmart.com.
Succeeding at this job requires proficiency with test automation and good grasp of programming.
